Five Top Things to Do in Asheville During the Winter

Valentine's Day is just around the corner - the perfect time for a romantic Asheville getaway with that special someone! While some locations are seasonal, Asheville offers year-round fun for lovebirds. Here is a list of five of our favorite winter activities for two in Asheville:

1 - The Conservatory on Biltmore Estate

You'll be cozy warm while enjoying the gorgeous flora and fauna of George Vanderbilt's private, tropical collection. Each Biltmore Farms Hotel offers a Biltmore Estate ticket package so you can enjoy the convenience and ease of visiting Biltmore Village's most popular neighbor.

2 - South Slope Breweries & Restaurants

You and your Sweetheart will keep your bellies full of delicious local specialties in food and craft beer from popular South Slope establishments, making the chilly mountain air a refreshing break as you walk from one stop to the next.

3 - Hiking

For those who love the outdoors, this is one of the best times of year to hike our mountain trails. Many of the waterfalls are at high levels due to winter rainfall and snow melt, making for dramatic photos and an unforgettable experience. Since the leaves are off the trees, you can see for miles and miles, appreciating views of gorgeous year-round shades of our Blue Ridge Mountains.

4 - Phil Mechanic Studios (River Arts District)

Asheville is bursting with talented artists from around the world. This studio displays work from a variety of artists who have chosen to take up residence in Asheville. If you pause to look at the Lobby walls in the DoubleTree, you will be lucky to catch a sneak peek of work from some of these artists before you ever leave the hotel. There are many more art studios including glass blowing, pottery, and fiber arts; plus restaurants and breweries in the River Arts District for you to enjoy, so be sure to leave at least half a day open for this adventure.

5 - Live Music

Rumor is spreading that Asheville is the new Nashville! Visitors will find live music in the tiniest coffee bar to the biggest stage every night of the week. While it's hard to keep up with all of the options (there are just so many!), here is a fairly comprehensive list so you can check for your favorite band on your next visit.
