Hotel Development: How our family of hotels grew before our very eyes.
Looking back, we can see a distinct pattern for legendary hospitality dating to the early years of the 20th century. That's when George Vanderbilt's vision inspired one of the world's great institutions - New York City's famed Biltmore Hotel. It's a legacy of hotel excellence and innovative service that we continue to ensure is alive and well today.
What follows is a brief snapshot of how the Biltmore Farms family of hotels was carefully assembled:
In October 1989, we acquired our first hotel, originally known as the Quality Inn.
It has since won the Choice System's Gold Award eight times, as well as twice being named Inn of the Year by the Quality Inn Hotel Systems. In 2002, following a $4.2-million renovation, the hotel was renamed The Doubletree Biltmore Hotel, and promptly cited as "Renovation of the Year." The hotel also won back-to-back "Pride Awards," in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In 2006, the Doubletree Biltmore was awarded the coveted CARE cup for leading the brand in guest experience, employee satisfaction and community outreach programs. In 2011, as a part of the DoubleTree Brand overhaul, the official name of the hotel became The DoubleTree by Hilton Asheville-Biltmore.
In July 1994, construction of Sleep Inn Biltmore was completed, and its doors opened to guests. It, too, is now a two-time Gold Award winner.
In May 2002, Biltmore Farms Hotel Group acquired The Quality Inn & Suites Biltmore South, which has since garnered both industry acclaim and sterling reviews from our guests. In 2007, this property became a Gold Award winner.
In 2005, the Residence Inn Biltmore Asheville Biltmore became the newest addition to the Biltmore Farms family of hotels. This hotel has been a high performer in many aspects. In 2007, the hotel was recognized by the Marriott brand for being the "Most Inspiring Property".
In 2007, construction began on the new Hilton Asheville Biltmore Park, a LEED Silver Certified property that is on the cutting edge of sustainable hotels. Complete with a solar powered hot water system, 100% CFL lighting and a fuel alternative shuttle service. This hotel opened its doors in 2009 and is located in the heart of Biltmore Park's shopping and dining district.
Today, our family continues to grow and develop new refinements.
