Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Areas
Asheville, NC

We offer the perfect hotels when planning visits or vacations to the Lake Lure or Chimney Rock areas near Asheville, NC.

Lake Lure NC

Lake Lure is located in Rutherford County, NC, nestled in historic Hickory Nut Gorge. Visitors come from as far as four states away to enjoy Lake Lure activities such as picnics, water skiing, boating and fishing.

Beautiful Lake Lure is perhaps best known for its part as a filming location for major motion pictures. Almost everyone recalls the dance scenes at the lodge in Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze. Those scenes were filmed at Lake Lure and in Virginia. The 1996 comedy-drama My Fellow Americans, starring Jack Lemmon and James Garner, used Lake Lure as a backdrop. Lake Lure was also the location for the 2006 HGTV Dream Home contest, where the lucky winner received a furnished home and a new car.

Chimney Rock NC

Chimney Rock State Park is located just 25 miles southeast of Asheville, NC.

Chimney Rock, the Park's well-known 315-foot granite monolith, provides spectacular views of the Park and nearby countryside. Chimney Rock Park also features other breathtaking scenery such as 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls. Hiking trails are available for all skill levels.

Visitors may recognize selected areas of the Park from features in popular films. Chimney Rock State Park was used as a location in the 1984 film A Breed Apart and in many of the final scenes of the 1992 adaptation of The Last of the Mohicans.
